Footballer sentenced to prison for driving BMW at 307 km/h
Connor Charlton, a 32-year-old footballer for Nostell Miners Welfare FC, has been sentenced to four years in prison following a series of dangerous driving incidents. Charlton was caught on video driving a BMW X3 M Competition at speeds reaching 307 km/h (191 mph).
Authorities discovered that Charlton engaged in reckless maneuvers, including weaving through traffic and performing dangerous actions near other vehicles. Telemetry data from the vehicle revealed that he had exceeded 172 km/h at least eight times over the previous year. Additionally, police found evidence on his phone suggesting he had attempted to orchestrate a cover-up of an accident.
Charlton pleaded guilty to ten counts of endangering road users and four counts of obstructing justice, which included attempting to implicate friends to avoid penalty points. In addition to his prison term, the Leeds Crown Court imposed a driving ban of four years and seven months.
