Ford adopts Apple Maps for 2027 electric vehicle platform

Ford Motor Company announced that its next generation electric‑vehicle platform, slated for launch in 2027, will use Apple Maps as the native navigation system. The integration relies on Apple’s MapKit for Automotive SDK, allowing the maps to operate without a connected iPhone and providing features such as natural‑language search, real‑time traffic, EV‑specific routing and battery pre‑conditioning.

The first model to receive the new software is a midsize electric pickup priced around US$30,000. Ford said the Apple Maps data will also be fed into its BlueCruise hands‑free driving system to enhance autonomous‑highway performance. While Apple Maps becomes the core navigation service, Ford will continue offering Apple CarPlay and anticipates supporting Android Auto on compatible models.
