Ford appoints Angela Weathers as Silverton plant manager

Ford South Africa has announced the appointment of Angela Weathers as the new Plant Manager for the Silverton Manufacturing Plant, effective August 2026. Weathers moves to the role from her position as Director of Manufacturing, Quality Operating Systems at Ford Motor Company in the United States.

With over 30 years of experience at Ford, Weathers has held leadership roles in engineering, quality, and operations. Notably, she led the company’s ventilator production programme during the COVID-19 pandemic. She succeeds Suresh Babu, who has transitioned to a plant manager role at Ford’s Chennai Powertrain Operations in India.

The Silverton facility is a critical hub for Ford, producing the Ranger for the South African market and over 100 export markets globally. The plant was recently honored with Ford’s Global VO Plant Quality Excellence Award, identifying it as the highest-performing Ranger manufacturing site in the company’s global network. Weathers will report to Ockert Berry, Vice President of Manufacturing Operations for Ford South Africa.
