Argentina car sales plunge 30% in July 2026

In July 2026 Argentina registered 43,758 new cars, a 30.3% drop compared with July 2025 and a 7.7% decline from June. The year‑to‑date total fell 12.8% versus the same period in 2025, reflecting weakened demand for durable goods amid tighter credit.

Toyota remained the market leader with 7,102 units, followed by Fiat (5,244) and Volkswagen (5,073). Ford’s Ranger pickup stayed among the top sellers, prompting Ford to cut production speed at its General Pacheco plant by about 17% from October to match the softer regional market.

Motorcycle registrations surged, reaching 71,217 units – a 30.4% year‑on‑year increase – with Honda topping the brand ranking. Provincial data showed the sharpest car‑sales decline in Misiones, where registrations fell 43.7% year‑on‑year.

The Association of Concessionaire Automotores de la República Argentina (ACARA) highlighted that 69% of new car registrations were imports, while the remaining 31% were domestically produced.
