Ford expands 2027 F-150 engine lineup with new 3.0‑L EcoBoost base and broader V8 availability

Ford announced that the 2027 model year of its F‑150 pickup will replace the 2.7‑liter EcoBoost V6 with a twin‑turbocharged 3.0‑liter EcoBoost V6 as the standard engine. The larger 3.0‑L unit is already used in the Explorer, Ranger Raptor, Bronco Raptor and Aviator, where it produces between 380 and 418 horsepower, though Ford has not released the exact output for the F‑150.

In addition, the 5.0‑liter V8 will be offered on the upscale King Ranch and Platinum trims, expanding V8 availability beyond the current limited models. The changes aim to give buyers a traditional V8 option while keeping the newer EcoBoost V6 for efficiency‑focused customers, and they come as Ford responds to Ram’s recent re‑introduction of a V8 in its 1500 series.
