Ford expands Bronco brand with new models and international testing
Ford Motor Company is implementing a major strategic shift, aiming to refresh 80% of its North American portfolio by 2029. This plan includes expanding the Bronco sub-brand through a hybrid model due in 2027 and a Bronco-based pickup expected later this decade. Additionally, Ford’s luxury brand, Lincoln, is expected to develop an off-roader based on the Bronco platform.
In the international market, a Chinese-built Bronco New Energy has been spotted testing in Australia. This model, produced through a collaboration between Ford and Jianling Motors (JMC Ford), is available as either a full battery-electric vehicle or an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV). The EREV version features a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol generator and a total range of approximately 1,220km. The pure-electric variant utilizes a BYD-supplied battery with a claimed range of 650km.
