Ford F-150 receives 2027 updates and issues major recall

Ford is implementing significant changes for the 2027 F-150 lineup while simultaneously managing a large-scale safety recall.

The 2027 models will introduce a new standard 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 engine, replacing the previous 2.7-liter version. While horsepower remains at 325, Ford expects a 10-11% increase in torque during daily driving. New features include expanded BlueCruise hands-free towing capabilities for qualified highway zones and more affordable entry-level versions of the Tremor and Raptor off-road models. Additionally, a new XLT Carhartt edition will be available.

Separately, Ford has issued a recall for 223,472 F-150 pickups manufactured between January 4, 2023, and the present. The recall affects certain 2023 through 2027 model year vehicles due to a defect where fuel tank mounting straps may loosen while driving. The issue is linked to how the straps were secured at the factory. No accidents or injuries have been reported in connection with this defect.
