Ford halts F-150 production at Michigan and Missouri plants
Ford has halted production of its flagship F-150 pickup truck at several major facilities due to supplier issues. At the Dearborn Truck Plant in Michigan, thousands of workers have been idled, with production expected to remain suspended through at least September 29 or 30.
Similar disruptions have affected the Kansas City Assembly Plant in Missouri, where several shifts have been canceled. To mitigate these losses, Ford has increased output at its Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, though that facility focuses on the Super Duty line, the Expedition, and the Lincoln Navigator rather than the F-150.
While the specific supplier has not been named, internal reports indicate the disruption is related to supply chain problems and is not connected to previous aluminum shortages. This production pause comes at a challenging time for the automaker, as F-Series sales in the U.S. have seen a decline, and the company faces increasing competition from manufacturers like Hyundai and Kia.
