Ford Mustang GTD sets new production car lap record at Virginia International Raceway

The 2025 Ford Mustang GTD has set a new production car lap record at the Virginia International Raceway Grand Course. The vehicle completed the 4.1-mile circuit in 2:39.88, beating the previous record by nearly three seconds.

Designed as a street-legal supercar with a $325,000 price tag, the Mustang GTD features a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine producing over 800 horsepower. The vehicle utilizes an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, carbon fiber bodywork, and active aerodynamics to enhance performance. Testing was conducted in a near-stock configuration using Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires.
