Ford Mustang GTD sets Nürburgring record for American production cars
The 2025 Ford Mustang GTD has set a new record for the fastest American production car at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, completing a lap in 6:57.685. Piloted by Multimatic Motorsports test driver Dirk Müller, the time places the vehicle in a performance bracket alongside the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series and the Porsche 911 GT2 RS.
The Mustang GTD features a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine producing over 800 horsepower, paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Key technical specifications include active aerodynamics with an adjustable rear wing, semi-active suspension with adaptive dampers, carbon ceramic brakes, and a lightweight carbon fiber body. The vehicle also utilizes a pushrod front suspension geometry typically found in endurance racing prototypes.
