Ford ramps up F-Series truck production amid sales declines

Ford Motor Company is ramping up production of its F-Series pickup trucks to address supply shortages following previous disruptions at an aluminum supplier. In the United States, F-150 production reached 57,504 units in August, marking the highest monthly output in two years. Despite this increase, Ford reported an 10.3% year-over-year decline in U.S. new vehicle sales for August, with F-Series sales down 10.9% compared to the previous year.

In Canada, the Oakville Assembly Complex has begun producing F-Series Super Duty trucks. This facility shift follows a strategic pivot from battery-electric vehicle production to heavy-duty trucks due to slowing EV demand. Ford committed CAD 3 billion to this transformation, with CAD 2.3 billion allocated to assembly and stamping operations. While daily output is steadily increasing, full production capacity at the Oakville plant is not expected until 2027. The transition has also led to the recall of employees from previous layoffs.
