Ford recalls 223,000 F-150 trucks and unveils 2027 model updates

Ford Motor Company has announced a safety recall for 223,472 F-150 pickup trucks from model years 2023 through 2027. The recall, identified by NHTSA as 26S69, stems from improperly secured fuel tank straps. This defect could cause the fuel tank to leak or detach from the vehicle while driving, posing risks of fire, engine stalling, and collisions. Ford has reported 16 warranty claims globally but no reported accidents or injuries related to the issue. Dealerships will replace the straps free of charge, and owners will be notified via mail starting September 21.

Separately, Ford has unveiled updates for its 2027 F-150 lineup. The new models will feature a 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 as the new base engine, replacing the 2.7-liter unit. The company is also expanding the availability of its 5.0-liter V8 engine to include the King Ranch and Platinum trims. Other updates include styling revisions, new wheel designs, and the introduction of a Carhartt-branded model. To improve affordability for certain configurations, Ford is also lowering starting prices for the Raptor and Tremor models by eliminating some standard equipment.
