Ford recalls F-150 and Ranger models over brake failure risk

Ford has issued a recall for specific 2025 F-150 and 2026 Ranger models due to a potential defect in the electric brake booster (EBB). A design flaw may cause the system to incorrectly activate a safety mode, resulting in a loss of braking assistance and increased stopping distances.

When the fault occurs, warning lights for the ABS, ESC, and brakes will illuminate on the dashboard, accompanied by an audible alert. While the issue persists, the anti-lock braking, traction control, and electronic stability control systems will remain operational. Braking assistance only returns once the EBB module completes a rest cycle with the vehicle turned off.

The recall affects 28 vehicles manufactured between January and October 2025, including two F-150 units and 26 Ranger units. Ford will provide a free replacement of the electric brake booster. Free service began on August 20, 2026.
