Ford recalls over 565,000 Broncos and Bronco Raptor SUVs due to fire risk
Ford Motor Co. announced a recall of 565,691 Bronco and Bronco Raptor SUVs built between 2021 and 2026 because a wiring harness in the engine compartment can short‑circuit, creating a fire hazard. The company estimates about 1 % of the vehicles actually have the defect but is recalling the entire population as a precaution. No accidents or injuries have been reported.
Dealers will install a heavy‑duty protective sheath over the exposed wiring at no cost to owners. The recall is identified by Ford’s internal number 26S55 and the NHTSA campaign number 26V468. Notification letters to US owners are scheduled to begin on Aug. 24‑28, and a similar recall affecting 36,061 vehicles has been issued in Canada.
Owners can verify whether their vehicle is covered by entering the VIN on the Ford or NHTSA recall webpages and can contact Ford customer service at 1‑866‑436‑7332 for assistance.
