Ford reveals custom Mustang ‘Ute’ concept car
Ford has revealed a previously unreleased Mustang ‘Ute’ concept car. The vehicle was developed by the Ford Experimental Vehicles Building (EVB) Metal Shop as a training project for apprentices to gain hands-on experience in building a concept car.
The one-off vehicle is based on an S550 Mustang chassis and features a Shelby-sourced front end, wider fenders, and a custom Cyber Orange paint job. The build includes a short tray grafted onto the rear, transforming the traditional pony car into a utility-style vehicle. According to Matt Korczyk, Ford’s heritage fleet manager, the project was intended to showcase the skills of both apprentices and their instructors and was not originally meant for public display.
