Ford reveals one-off Mustang ute concept built for apprentice training
Ford Motor Company has revealed a one-off Mustang ute concept created by its Experimental Vehicle Building (EVB) Metal Shop. The custom vehicle is based on the previous-generation S550 Mustang fastback and features a modified body with a pickup-style bed.
To create the utility vehicle, the EVB team integrated a load-bed floor from a Ford Ranger. The modification involved cutting away the rear bodywork, reshaping the roofline, and adding a functioning tailgate between the signature triple-bar tail-lights.
According to Matt Korczyk, manager of Ford's US Heritage Fleet, the project served as a training tool. The build allowed apprentices to gain hands-on experience in metal fabrication and panel fitting by working on a real-world concept car through hundreds of hours of labor.
