Ford revives rare Mustang Boss 351 Concept with V10 engine

Ford has revived a unique prototype known as the Mustang Boss 351 Concept, which features a 5.8-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine that was never intended for mass production. The Ford Heritage Fleet collaborated with the original engineering team to restore the vehicle, updating its electronics and revising various systems that had been neglected for two decades.

Recent power tests indicate the engine now produces over 510 horsepower at the wheels, potentially reaching 600 horsepower at the crankshaft, an increase from its original 20-year-old specifications. This performance boost is attributed to a modernized intake system.

The Mustang brand itself has a significant history, originating from a need to provide affordable performance cars for the growing teenage and college-aged population in the 1960s. Following early concepts like the Mustang I, the production model was officially unveiled in April 1964.
