Ford warns employees of upcoming Chinese EV market entry in U.S
Ford CEO Jim Farley has informed employees that Chinese automakers are expected to enter the United States market within the next five to ten years. This internal assessment comes despite current trade barriers, such as approximately 100% tariffs, which presently make importing Chinese electric vehicles into the U.S. unfeasible.
Industry analysts suggest that long-term protectionism may face challenges from consumer demand for more affordable models. While the average price of a new electric vehicle in the U.S. was approximately $55,300 in February, comparable Chinese models, such as the BYD Dolphin Mini, are available at significantly lower price points in markets like Mexico and China.
