Foreign investors sell Turkish equities and bonds for third consecutive week
Foreign investors have continued to sell Turkish equities for a third straight week, according to data from the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT). During the week ending October 2, non-resident investors recorded net sales of $189.9 million in equities and $484.7 million in government bonds.
When including private-sector bonds, which saw $60 million in net outflows, total bond sales exceeded $1.8 billion over a three-week period. This includes $1.008 billion in government bond sales and $826 million in private-sector bond sales. These outflows occur amid market volatility following an investment fund crisis.
In contrast to the foreign outflows from lira-denominated assets, domestic residents increased their foreign-currency deposits by $861 million during the same week. Over the preceding three weeks, domestic foreign-currency deposits rose by a total of $5.22 billion on a parity-adjusted basis.
