Foreign-led businesses in Italy exceed 677,000
Foreign-led businesses in Italy have surpassed 677,000, marking an increase of over 16,000 in the first six months of the year. According to data from InfoCamere, these enterprises now account for nearly 12% of all registered companies in the country.
Between January and June, 37,140 new businesses were established, while 21,043 ceased operations. Approximately 79% of these activities are led by individuals from non-EU countries. The growth is particularly notable in capital companies, which saw an 11% increase over the last twelve months, signaling that foreign entrepreneurship is expanding beyond traditional trade and crafts into more complex corporate structures.
Among individual enterprises, the Moroccan, Romanian, and Chinese communities represent the largest groups of entrepreneurs. Data also shows that the presence of foreign business owners is becoming more established, with approximately 35% of foreign-led firms having operated for more than ten years as of late 2025.
