Argentine Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno conducts diplomatic mission in Singapore
Argentine Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno is conducting a diplomatic mission in Singapore, where he has engaged in multiple high-level discussions regarding international interests and sovereignty.
During the Singapore Grand Prix, Quirno met with Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali to express Argentina’s aspiration to host a Grand Prix again, noting the country’s rich motorsport history. The government is currently working to remodel the Juan y Óscar Gálvez Autodrome to meet FIA standards, with hopes for a return to the racing calendar by 2028.
Quirno’s visit has also drawn political scrutiny following a tour of the Seatrium shipyard. Critics, including Deputy Agustina Propato, pointed out that the shipyard has contracts related to the Sea Lion oil project in the Falkland Islands (Malvinas). This has sparked debate regarding the consistency of Argentina’s sanctions against companies operating in the disputed territory.
Additionally, Quirno addressed regional tensions by clarifying that Argentina is not preparing a legal offensive against Chile regarding the control of the Strait of Magellan, aiming to lower diplomatic friction while simultaneously meeting with digital infrastructure executives in Malaysia to discuss potential investments.
