Foreign Minister Sugiono urges Gaza ceasefire at UN General Assembly

Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono emphasized Indonesia's commitment to multilateral diplomacy during the 81st UN General Assembly High-Level Week in New York.

Speaking at a Ministerial Coordination Meeting of the Group of Eight Arab and Islamic Countries, Sugiono called for concrete steps to address the deteriorating situation in Gaza. He urged the international community to prioritize a ceasefire, the flow of humanitarian aid, and an end to killings in the region. Sugiono noted that while there is a commitment to peace, the Palestinian people have yet to see real change.

Indonesia's participation in the assembly aims to ensure national interests and priorities are reflected in global discussions. The session, themed ‘Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations that Delivers for All’, focused on the importance of multilateralism and international law in managing global shifts, climate change, and artificial intelligence.
