Foreign national dies in custody after Golden Temple Express altercation

A foreign national died in custody at Surat railway station following a violent confrontation aboard the Golden Temple Express. The incident occurred while the train was traveling from Mumbai to Delhi.

According to reports, the man, approximately 45 years old, was creating a disturbance in a general coach and arguing with passengers. When Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel attempted to intervene by speaking to him in English, the man reportedly became more aggressive and used a fire extinguisher to attack fellow travelers.

Upon the train's arrival at Surat, RPF and Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel subdued the man and took him to the RPF police station for questioning. During the interrogation, the man collapsed and was rushed to SMIMER Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Authorities have registered a case of accidental death and launched an investigation into the circumstances of the death. Police noted that no identification documents, such as a passport or visa, were found on the individual, leaving his specific nationality unconfirmed. A post-mortem examination has been conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
