Foreign recruits face high casualties in Ukraine near Kupyansk

Foreign recruits, particularly from Latin America, continue to join the Ukrainian military to fill gaps in assault infantry, often facing high casualty rates near Kupyansk. Many of these individuals are assigned to the 23rd ‘RUG’ Assault Regiment of the Khartia Brigade.

Recruiters have reportedly promised high wages and ‘easy work,’ but many volunteers face intense combat against Russian units, including the 27th Separate Guards Motor Rifle Brigade and elements of the 68th Motor Rifle Division. Recent casualty lists released in late August include numerous Colombian citizens and at least one Chilean national, indicating a steady flow of foreign contractors into high-intensity combat zones.
