Foreign‑born individuals now comprise one‑fifth of the ultra‑wealthy elite
A new Altrata report, sponsored by investment‑migration adviser Arton Capital, finds that one in five ultra‑high‑net‑worth (UHNW) individuals are foreign‑born. The study projects the UHNW population to increase by 33% to 734,100 people by 2030, with combined wealth rising from $63 trillion in 2025 to $84 trillion by the decade’s end. About 79% of these ultra‑wealthy are self‑made, while only 5% inherit their entire fortune.
Mobility is highlighted as a core driver of wealth creation: 17% own or partly own businesses outside their country of residence, and 34% have pursued higher education abroad. Major hubs remain the United States, which hosts roughly 40% of UHNW individuals, London, and Dubai, where 19% of foreign‑born UHNW people are under 50 years old. The report suggests that wealth is becoming less tied to any single nation‑state as the ultra‑rich increasingly structure assets and enterprises across multiple jurisdictions.
