Forensic Analysis Begins on Remains of Missing Italian Woman Daniela Ruggi

Italian authorities have started forensic examinations on the skeletal remains of 31‑year‑old Daniela Ruggi, who disappeared over a year ago in Vitriola di Montefiorino and whose body was recovered on 28 May in the ruin of Torre di Pignone. The work is being carried out at Labanof, the Laboratory of Anthropology and Forensic Odontology of the University of Milan, under the direction of Cristina Cattaneo. Family lawyer Deborah De Cicco reported that the left cup of the victim’s bra was found "lacerated in a clear and decisive manner," a detail now under investigation.

The initial phase involved cataloguing bones and clothing; further analyses are scheduled for 8 September at Labanof and 11 September at the Parma Carabinieri station, where additional items such as glasses, bottles and bivouac material will also be examined. Investigators aim to determine whether the death resulted from homicide, an accident, or natural causes, with skeletal study expected to reveal any traumatic injuries.
