Forensic experts to re-examine cause of death in Ángel López case

A new forensic examination is scheduled to begin on October 21 in Buenos Aires to determine the exact cause of death of four-year-old Ángel López. The analysis will be conducted by the Cuerpo Médico Forense of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation.

The investigation follows requests from the defense of the accused, Mariela Altamirano and Maicol González, who expressed dissatisfaction with previous findings. Previous reports suggested two causes of death: pneumonia and twenty impacts to the head. The new examination aims to clarify the nature of blood infiltrations found in the child's scalp and establish a definitive cause of death.

Biological samples have been transferred to Buenos Aires for the procedure. Defense attorney Alejandro Varas stated that while the prosecution maintains a specific stance, the objective report from the Supreme Court could potentially modify the identified causes of death. Results are expected by late November.
