Forensic medicine chosen by two new doctors at Hanoi Medical University

During the 2026 residency Match Day at Hanoi Medical University, the final two available slots were filled by students choosing the field of forensic medicine. The selection process follows a ranking system based on exam scores, where top-ranking students select their specialties first.

Two new doctors, Truong Viet Anh and Do Tat Binh, entered the field through different paths. Truong Viet Anh, a graduate of Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy, pursued forensic medicine despite facing social stigma and opposition from family members who feared the high pressure and legal complexities of the profession.

Do Tat Binh, a graduate of the Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine, discovered the field after initially facing disappointment with his exam results. Unlike Viet Anh, Binh received support from his family. Both doctors noted that while forensic medicine is a quiet and demanding profession, they find significant professional value in the work.
