Foresight Group reaches financial close on Kondinin Wind Farm
Foresight Group has announced the financial close for the first stage of the Kondinin Wind Farm in Western Australia’s Wheatbelt. Following the acquisition of Shell Energy’s 50% interest, Foresight will now assume full ownership of the project.
The first stage of the development will have a capacity of 130MW and will utilize 21 Vestas V162-6.2 MW turbines. Once operational, the wind farm is expected to provide enough electricity to power approximately 70,000 homes. The project is supported by a seven-year Power Purchase Agreement with the state-owned utility Synergy and a 15-year revenue support contract through the federal government’s Capacity Investment Scheme.
The Western Australian Government has designated Kondinin as a Priority Project under the State Development Act 2025, citing its strategic and economic importance. The project is part of a broader 370MW energy development. Financing for the project was secured through a $430 million debt package provided by a syndicate of Australian banks, including CBA, Westpac, and ANZ.
