Forest City scam operations raided by Malaysian police

Malaysian police have raided two alleged scam operations located within Forest City, a massive $100 billion artificial island project near Singapore. Originally pitched in 2016 as a special financial zone intended to house 700,000 residents, the development is currently estimated to be inhabited by less than 1% of its target population, leaving many skyscrapers vacant.

During the mid-July raids, authorities searched 32 premises, including a residential tower and several bungalows. Police arrested 335 individuals, comprising 309 Chinese nationals, 19 Indonesians, four Myanmar nationals, and three Malaysians. Officers seized assets valued at approximately one million ringgit, including over 1,500 mobile phones, 313 computers, and 17 laptops.

According to investigators, these call center hubs were used by cryptocurrency syndicates to conduct investment and love scams targeting victims abroad. Johor police chief Ab Rahaman Arsad stated that authorities are currently collaborating with Interpol to locate the mastermind behind these operations.
