Forest conservation initiatives and academic forums announced in Italy

Various environmental initiatives and academic discussions regarding forest conservation are scheduled to take place in Italy.

In Perugia, the Fondo Forestale Italiano (FFI) will host the inaugural “Aziende e foreste: un connubio di valore” conference on October 9. The event aims to integrate perspectives from art, science, and business regarding forest management. Discussions will focus on the scientific implications of allowing forests to evolve freely, the concept of forests as common goods, and how corporations can actively support biodiversity through non-profit partnerships. The event also serves as a ceremony to thank contributors to the Bosco delle Sette Valli.

Separately, the University of Udine will host an event titled “Foreste a rischio” on October 6, featuring biologist and entomologist Giovanni Onore. The discussion, organized with the Fondazione Otonga, will address tropical deforestation, specifically in Ecuador. The session will examine the local and global effects of deforestation, regulatory frameworks, impacts on biodiversity, and the responsibilities of consumers in driving imported deforestation.
