Forest fire ravages crops and vegetation in Carapo, Ayacucho

A large-scale forest fire is causing severe damage to flora and fauna in the Carapo district, within the Huanca Sancos province of Ayacucho. The fire began on October 8 and has spread rapidly through dry vegetation, primarily affecting the Huaylla-Chuqani and Kuntu Estancia sectors.

The flames are consuming extensive areas of vegetation, including pine and eucalyptus trees, prickly pear plants, avocado crops, and beehives, threatening the livelihoods of local families. Residents from Huaylla, Chuqani, and San Miguel de Manchiri are working alongside personnel from the Carapo District Municipality to combat the blaze.

While the Civil Defense Technical Secretariat has joined the efforts, dry weather conditions are making it difficult to control the fire. Local inhabitants have expressed concern regarding the risk to nearby communities and have called for urgent intervention from the Regional Government.
