Forest fires reported in Peru and Colombia
Emergency responders have addressed separate forest fire incidents in Peru and Colombia. In Peru, firefighters and the Brigada Verde worked to contain a blaze on the road connecting the Morales and San Antonio de Cumbaza districts. Responders discovered a significant accumulation of solid waste at the site, including alcohol bottles and debris linked to a local establishment named Cava. The Brigada Verde has called for police intervention to identify those responsible for the waste and urged businesses and citizens to prevent the use of natural areas as illegal dumping sites.
In Bogotá, Colombia, the Fire Department intervened to control a forest fire in the La Resurrección sector of the Rafael Uribe Uribe locality. While no injuries were reported, the incident caused visible smoke columns across the southern part of the city. Authorities noted that high temperatures and lack of rainfall, potentially linked to a strong El Niño phenomenon, have increased the risk of such fires in forested areas.
