Forest fires reported in Santa María and Santa Marta de Tormes

Separate forest fires have been reported in Argentina and Spain.

In Famatanca, Santa María, Argentina, a wildfire broke out near the Santa María River close to a farm. The fire spread approximately 500 meters from its origin, consuming vegetation including poplars and willows. Volunteer firefighters from San José and Santa María worked for several hours to control the fire front and perform cooling and ember extinction tasks to prevent reactivation.

In Santa Marta de Tormes, Spain, a forest fire was detected on Tuesday afternoon. According to the Forest Fire Information Service of Castilla y León (Infocal), 13 resources have been deployed to combat the blaze, including environmental agents, technicians, four water tenders, two aerial units, and a rapid intervention team. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
