Brazil reports multiple tragic incidents involving children

Several tragic incidents involving children have been reported in Brazil. In Presidente Prudente, a 10-month-old baby died by drowning in a reservoir after her 42-year-old mother, reportedly experiencing a psychotic episode, threw three children into the water. The mother claimed a voice told her the children would suffer. Two siblings, aged 7 and 9, survived the incident.

In Cuiabá, a newborn was found dead inside a bag wrapped in a blanket in a vacant lot by a scavenger. The Civil Police are investigating the circumstances of the death and the identity of those responsible.

In São José, a woman was sentenced to four months of detention, later converted to a fine, for child mistreatment. The court found she failed to provide adequate food, hydration, and hygiene for children under 14 in her care.
