Forino mourns nurse and unborn child after sudden deaths

Funeral services were held in Forino for 32-year-old nurse Giovanna Lo Chiatto and her unborn son, Francesco. The community gathered in mourning following the sudden death of the expectant mother during her ninth month of pregnancy.

Lo Chiatto, who lived in Mercogliano with her partner Leonardo Magliano, reportedly suffered sudden abdominal pain and loss of consciousness at her home. Despite emergency medical intervention, both mother and child passed away.

The Avellino Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation into the circumstances of the deaths. Four doctors have been placed on the register of suspects to allow their participation in the inquiry, though this does not imply legal responsibility. An autopsy by a specialist panel has been ordered to determine the clinical cause of the sudden illness and the progression of the pregnancy.
