Forlì Airport aircraft damaged by 120 km/h wind gusts

A severe thunderstorm with wind gusts reaching approximately 120 km/h struck Forlì Airport in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy on the afternoon of August 21. The extreme weather caused significant disruption, affecting four light aircraft on the airfield.

Reports indicate that the strong winds caused several small planes to tilt or flip over, with one aircraft landing during the storm being caught in the gusts. Some parked aircraft were reportedly pushed about 10 meters by the wind. No injuries were reported following the incident.

In addition to the aircraft damage, the storm caused structural damage to a terminal roof and sent debris and dust across the airport grounds. Forlì Airport was temporarily closed for approximately one hour to allow emergency services and airport staff to inspect the site and ensure safety.
