Forlì Airport aircraft damaged by powerful Italian storm

A powerful storm featuring a downburst hit northern Italy, causing significant disruption at Luigi Ridolfi Airport in Forlì. Wind gusts reaching approximately 120 kilometers per hour tossed several light aircraft across the airfield, with at least one plane being overturned.

The severe weather also caused structural damage to the airport, including damage to the arrival terminal roof and hangar walls. For safety reasons, the airport was temporarily closed for about an hour to allow emergency services to inspect for fuel leaks and debris. One aircraft was reportedly blown off course during its landing attempt due to the turbulence.

The storm's impact extended beyond the airport into the Emilia-Romagna region, where heavy rainfall and high winds caused flooding on streets, uprooted trees, and led to numerous emergency interventions by firefighters. No injuries were reported during the incident at the airport.
