Forlì council seeks additional police staff and backs private security support

Majority group leaders in the Forlì municipal council – Fabrizio Ragni (Fratelli d'Italia), Albert Bentivogli (Lega), Giulia Versari (Forza Italia) and Leonardo Gallozzi (Forlì cambia) – have called for a boost in local police personnel. They note the current force of 121 officers falls short of the regional target of 140, with about 30% of staff limited by medical certifications, creating a significant operational gap that mirrors shortages across Emilia‑Romagna.

The council also defended the use of private security firms to complement, not replace, municipal police. Opposition parties and the CGIL had criticised the move, arguing that private guards have different functions. The majority responded that a regional agreement on private security can provide additional tools for territorial patrol, citing a similar unanimous decision in the neighbouring municipality of Cervia.
