Formal Display wins $1.5 million Alan Brown Stakes

Formal Display secured a career-best victory in the Group 3 $1.5 million Alan Brown Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday. Ridden by Kerrin Mcevoy, the $26 outsider overcame a wide barrier to win by a long neck, finishing ahead of Estadio Mestalla and Linebacker. The race saw the $4.20 favourite, Sepals, finish at the rear of the field after encountering trouble on the turn.

Trainers Annabel and Rob Archibald have indicated that the horse is being prepared for the $3 million Big Dance (1600m) at Royal Randwick, scheduled for Melbourne Cup Day on November 3. The horse has shown significant progression this year, moving from a benchmark 78 grade to winning major stakes races.
