Former Albertville police officer arrested for database misuse

Jeremy Hannah, a former officer with the Albertville Police Department, has been arrested for the alleged misuse of law enforcement databases. An investigation conducted by the Marshall County District Attorney's Office revealed that Hannah improperly accessed the Alabama Criminal Justice Information System/Law Enforcement Tactical System (ACJIS/LETS).

According to District Attorney Jennifer Bray, the unauthorized searches were conducted to obtain information regarding Hannah's ex-spouse and a member of her close family, serving no legitimate law enforcement or public safety purpose. While the investigation was underway, the department had placed Hannah on administrative leave with pay.

Hannah faces two charges, including a Class B felony violation of the Alabama Digital Crimes Act and an unclassified offense under Title 41 of the Alabama Code, which carries a potential penalty of up to five years in prison. The Albertville Police Department has initiated the process to terminate Hannah's employment. Prosecutors intend to present the case to a Marshall County grand jury.
