Former Army Chief Subagyo HS passes away at 80

Former Indonesian Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) Subagyo Hadi Siswoyo passed away at the age of 80 at Panti Rapih Hospital in Yogyakarta on Monday afternoon.

Subagyo, a distinguished officer and graduate of the 1970 AKABRI Magelang class, is scheduled to be buried at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery in Jakarta on Tuesday. Following presidential instructions, his remains will be flown from Adisucipto Airport in Yogyakarta to Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in Jakarta. Before the burial, the body will be held at the Army Headquarters for prayer services and a military ceremony.

Subagyo held several high-profile positions during his career, including Commander of Kopassus from 1994 to 1995, a role he later passed to Prabowo Subianto. He served as the Army Chief of Staff from February 1998 to November 1999, making him the only Army Chief to serve under three different Indonesian presidents: Soeharto, BJ Habibie, and Abdurrahman Wahid.
