Former athletes discuss life transitions and overcoming adversity

Former professional skiers Christina Bühler and Marco Pfiffner shared insights into their transitions away from elite sports. Bühler noted that injuries forced her to accept retirement, while Pfiffner described a gradual realization that he no longer possessed the necessary drive for high-risk speed racing.

Both athletes highlighted the challenges of restructuring daily life once the rigid discipline of training, nutrition, and competition is removed. While Bühler found the transition aided by her ongoing university studies, Pfiffner focused on shifting his training toward general health and setting new personal goals.

In a separate discussion, former ski jumper Andi Goldberger and para-skier Gerda Pamler spoke about resilience. Goldberger addressed personal crises following his professional success, while Pamler discussed rebuilding her life and returning to the slopes using a monoski after a severe accident left her in a wheelchair.
