Former athletes lead Slovakia wealth rankings

The latest Forbes rankings of Slovakia's wealthiest individuals highlight the significant wealth accumulated by former professional athletes. Former NHL star Marián Hossa leads the group of athletes, with an estimated fortune of 140 million euros, a 20 million euro increase from the previous year. His wealth is driven by both career earnings and a successful family food business specializing in pierogi and flour-based products.

Other notable athletes in the rankings include hockey legend Zdeno Chára, whose wealth remains stable at 110 million euros through investments in stocks and bonds, and Marián Gáborík, who holds 100 million euros in assets including luxury real estate globally. Former footballer Marek Hamšík follows with 90 million euros, stemming from real estate projects and various business ventures.
