Former Atoyac police commander Levy N jailed in Pacho Viejo penitentiary

Levy N, formerly the commander of the Municipal Police of Atoyac in Veracruz, was transferred to the Centro de Reinserción Social de Pacho Viejo in Coatepec to face a criminal trial for alleged qualified intentional homicide. The charges relate to the deaths of José Armando N and Filiberto N in January 2023.

The former commander was arrested in Jalisco during a joint operation involving Veracruz Ministerial Police, federal authorities and security units from Mexico City, in execution of an arrest warrant issued in Process 133/2026. According to the Veracruz State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), Levy N ordered that the detained men not be presented to the ministerial authority and that they be removed from the police commander's office with the assistance of other individuals. Hours later, the two men were found dead with gunshot wounds. The FGE also indicated that Levy N is under investigation for a possible connection to another homicide, and inquiries are ongoing.
