Former Batam School Principal Arrested Over 143 Million Rupiah Embezzlement

On 27 July 2026 police in Batam detained the former headmaster of SMA Taruna Kepulauan Riau, identified as AH (also reported as AP), on suspicion of embezzling school funds.

The case stemmed from an audit prompted by foundation chair Rahmat Riyandi, who found only Rp 41 million in the school’s official account despite expected tuition and fee receipts. Further investigation revealed that 12 parents had paid registration and SPP fees directly to the principal, amounting to roughly Rp 143 million, which was never deposited in the school account. The suspect admitted using the money, promised repayment, and police seized related bank statements. He is now charged with embezzlement in office.
