Seungri confirms marriage and impending fatherhood

Former BIGBANG member Seungri (Lee Seung-hyun) has confirmed that he is legally married to a non-celebrity woman in her 20s and is expecting his first child, a son, in January 2027. In an interview with Ilgan Sports, Seungri clarified that the couple had already registered their marriage and denied rumors that the union was a result of pregnancy. He stated that he is not currently planning a formal wedding ceremony and requested that the public respect the privacy of his wife and child.

The announcement comes as Seungri faces legal scrutiny regarding an incident in August at a restaurant in Gangnam, Seoul. He was accused of special assault and intimidation after a dispute with another customer. While his legal representative acknowledged that Seungri picked up a soju bottle during the argument, they denied that he swung or used it to strike anyone.

Seungri, who debuted in 2006, retired from the entertainment industry in 2019 following his involvement in the Burning Sun scandal. He served an 18-month prison sentence for charges including arranging prostitution and habitual gambling, and was released in February 2023.
