Former BRS MLA Rega Kantha Rao Charged with Sexual Exploitation in Hyderabad

Hyderabad police have filed a case against former BRS legislator Rega Kantha Rao after a 22‑year‑old media professional accused him of sexual exploitation and blackmail.

The complainant says the relationship began in 2022 when Rao invited her to a flat under the pretext of launching a YouTube channel, promised marriage, and lived together for almost four years. She alleges he repeatedly assaulted her and used private photographs to threaten her whenever she refused to meet him.

She also claims Rao collected about ₹4 lakh promising to invest it in a real‑estate venture and later, after she faced health and financial difficulties, his associates transferred roughly ₹8.5 lakh back to her. The FIR was registered under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
