Former Ceferesos Coordinator Antonio Molina Díaz Charged in García Luna Corruption Probe

A federal judge in Mexico City ordered the formal charging of Antonio Molina Díaz, the former general coordinator of the Federal Centers for Social Rehabilitation (Ceferesos), for organized crime and embezzlement. prosecutors say Molina Díaz participated in the corruption network led by former Security Secretary Genaro García Luna, which diverted more than five billion pesos from Ceferesos contracts. During his arrest authorities seized about US 2,500 and 36,590 pesos. The judge imposed automatic preventive detention pending trial.

The case is part of a wider investigation by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime (FEMDO) into contracts awarded to firms linked to García Luna’s circle, many of which were never fulfilled, allowing the massive fund diversion.
