Former College Soccer Player Bryn Waite Found Dead at San Diego Beach

Former Central Washington University defender Bryn Waite, 26, was recovered from shallow waters at La Jolla Shores near the Ellen Browning Scripps Memorial Pier in San Diego on Wednesday. A passerby alerted authorities, and San Diego Police Department officers and Fire‑Rescue Lifeguards pulled her from the water and declared her dead at the scene. The San Diego County Medical Examiner listed the cause and manner of death as “Ocean – Undetermined,” and the investigation remains ongoing.

Waite, originally from Anchorage, Alaska, played for the university’s women’s soccer team in 2018‑19, appearing in 15 matches. She graduated in 2021 with a psychology degree. Friends described her as “incredibly sweet, genuinely kind,” and university officials expressed deep sorrow over her untimely death.
